As part of Kip Marina, Scotland’s premier yachting location for both national and international clients, we have built a world class team since our inception back in 1973.
Our experience and knowledge gained from years spent using the latest technology across all disciplines makes us the experts when it comes to outdoor and active wear.
For our team, sailing is in the DNA and they can’t resist the latest clothing and gear from our 55 degrees outdoor clothing store and chandlery.
Who We Are
In the early sixties Derek and June Holt along with their daughters Linda, Christine and Sandra, enjoyed sailing on the Clyde from a mooring at Cardwell Bay in Gourock. Derek became aware of a new innovation in boat mooring being developed abroad which provided the walk on walk off facility which we enjoy today. Being all too familiar with the perils of conveying family and provisions to a boat on a mooring he immediately saw the potential. Identifying the saltings at Inverkip; an inland area which provided exceptional shelter amidst a magnificent rural setting, Kip Marina was born.
Our History
1973
a full Kip Marina. It was the first marina in Scotland (only one of the reasons we are Scotland’s Premier Marina!) and there were only another two marinas in the UK under construction at the same time as Kip. The Marina originally was planned for 250 boats but expanded to 600 berths by 1984.
1985
the Chartroom Bar & Restaurant was erected together with extended customer facilities including the Kip Marina Chandlery.
2004
The original offices were demolished and replaced with the more modern building which also accommodates the chandlery that is extended to now include a clothing range,
2008
with it’s success from the rebuild the Chandlery was extended and three further units were created allowing the team to be extended as well as the range of leading clothing providers including Henry Lloyd, Gill Marine & Holebrook a leading Swedish brand.
2016
we created a new brand identity and online eCommerce store specifically for the Clothing brands we have stocked and provided to customers for the past decade, this includes the fantastic Holebrook, Henry Lloyd and Gill Marine brands but also a fantastic new range from Pelle P.
